Disadvantaged children and families in front of the small screen.
According to the recently compiled data by Moige (Italian Parents
Movement), concerning its November 2010 report, the Italian Television
fails to offer children and family-friendly television products.
Fiction, such as Cesaroni, or the TV series My Name Is Earl continues to promote ways of life based only on
sex, with an inappropriate vulgar language that is absolutely unsuitable
for the time slot in which airs. Children are more fragile and do not yet
have a critical consciousness that will allow them to decode and protect
themselves from the most dangerous messages. Parents are greatly concerned
about this matter and the TV has a big responsibility. The worst record is
still held by Italia 1, with other commercial television close behind.
RAI’s programs are better for all audiences, due to the greater attention
they give to families, with products such as Filumena Maturano, La prova del cuoco and Lo Zecchino d’oro.
